Did you just gasp? Did a slight smile form on your lips? Can you picture this beast blazing down the runway with you at the stick? Do you want to add a JET L-39C Type Rating to your Pilot's LICENSE? Can you imagine what crowds this work-of-art-in-motion will draw at the next airshow? Can you hear yourself saying to the guy next to you at the show line ropes, "I've actually flown that very airplane!"
The Firecat is here, and Attitude Aviation is its lair... Firecat is a sleek, modern jet, an Aero Vodochody L-39C. Nothing old or out dated, it is a current production military aircraft with all the performance and reliability that implies. In its former life behind the Iron Curtain, the Firecat was a light attack fighter and trainer called the L-39 Albatros. In its present life in the good ol’ US of A, it’s the Firecat: 40 feet of engine, cockpit and audacious streamlining. It stands two stories tall. It is fast, maneuverable and (ahem) visible. This impressive acro machine sports an AI-25 TL twin shaft turbofan engine putting out 16.87kN of static thrust. Since I'm missing my slide rule at the moment, I'll just guess that to be about a million horsepower. (Sure feels like it.) Do ya wanna' fly a Jet!? Attitude Aviation is proud to offer Turbojet Training in the Firecat. Completion of training leads directly to FAA Experimental Type Certificate (formerly Letter of Authorization.) Firecat Airshows: Our own Rich Perkins puts the Firecat through its paces at US and International air shows, dazzling viewers with fantastic maneuvers and that outrageous paint scheme. The 2006 Air Show season is shaping up nicely. We had a fantastic time flying the air show at El Centro Naval Air Station in southernmost California. On the map El Centro is about two hairs north of the border. Doing high speed passes at 500 miles per hour, Rich had to be careful not to accidentally defect to Mexico. Our thanks to ALFORD DISTRIBUTING for sponsoring us! And thanks to all the fine folks at El Centro for making it such a fun experience! The Firecat is still available for booking for the 2006 season.
